INDIA
As per the gross domestic product (GDP), India is the largest economy in Asia. However, this part of the world is still struggling to give a primary education to slum and underprivileged areas of the country.
Currently 150 million children, youths are out of formal education system in India. Even those who are in school are not learning according to their grades. As per a source from “Teach for India” from low-income private schools, the level of engagement in reading comprehension is far from expected.
The quality of education and student engagement has improved over the years in India due to laws, policies and specialized programs. However, challenges are there. There is an urgent need to address those challenges. Other than significant efforts at the government level, private NGOs like “Care india and Amrit Foundation for India” and many others contribute to improving the rate of OOSC and quality of education for the lower-income class.
