Benin
Benin is West African country with a population of more than 10 million. This country is also swapped by poverty, lack of school infrastructure, sanitation facilities and discrimination. These things are the barriers to quality education and increasing the numbers of OOSC. According to the CEICDATA, Kids who are not in school are increased to 128,583 compared to last years’ record of 120,970. Like other African countries, the gender gap is similar where the rate of females who are missing school is more than males. As per findings from UNCEIF, the female rate is 33 percent compared to the male rate of 26 percent.
This challenge proved to be swift for the Benin government but the ministry of education is trying to overcome this and improve the standards. In past, the government of Benin has launched educational plans, focusing on primary education. The results were encouraging, in 2014, the number of trained teachers rose to 68% and the rate of primary completion reached the level of 76%.
