Syria
The Impact of the civil war on education has been devastating in Syria; things became even more fragile after the pandemic. More than half of the children are missing from school and 40% among them are girls. One in three schools has become the property of the military and children are forced to study in suffocated environments with insufficient hygiene facilities.
Very few humanitarian organizations are working in Syria. Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-government organization helping war-affected people through various outreach development programs. This initiative includes food security, shelter, and wash and education program. More than 56 thousand people have benefited from educational programs including children, youth and teachers. NRC is ensuring children come back to school, training teachers and improving recreation and psychosocial activities. The International community especially European Union is making unified efforts to rebuild the learning process. For this purpose, $6.4 billion has been pledged to help Syrian crisis.
